In celebration of Bernstein's centenary, Cambridge University Opera Society present his first opera: a snapshot of 1950s suburbia. Young couple Sam and Dinah appear to be living the American Dream, commentated upon by a jazz trio that celebrates and promotes their domestic ideal. But there are cracks in the perfection: their growing detachment exposes a mutual feeling that their model life is a lie.
